PERMANENT WATER RULES
A Guide to Using Water around the Home

Melbourne Water Restrictions were officially lifted in 2012, but in an effort to ensure we all make the best use of our precious water supplies now and into the future; Permanent Water Use Rules were introduced! While Permanent Water Saving Rules won’t prevent the need for water restrictions during times of major drought, they will help to stop excessive water wastage and encourage the community to value this precious, finite resource.

The Target 155 Initiative has also been introduced – a water efficiency program encouraging Melbournians to limit their water consumption to 155L per person per day, in order to further improve the community’s overall understanding and involvement in resource conservation.
(*To find out if you’re meeting Target 155, compare the usage on your most recent water bill with the daily target of 155L per person.)
